The key is to travel light. Airlines tend to have a 20 kg weight restriction for one’s bags, and the penalty for exceeding that weight can be stiff.
A friend of ours decided to purchase a large sports equipment bag to take purchases back to Australia. Not only was it oversize, it was waaaaaay overweight! Guess how much the extra baggage fees cost her before she made it home? More than $400!!
She may have saved money if she mailed the purchases home!
