The Auckland Museum is not to be missed. On our second day we walked through the park from our hotel (The Quadrant Hotel located beside the University of Auckland) to the museum. It was about a half hour walk, maybe less, most of it through the gardens surrounding the museum.
There is an excellent Maori show and display along with a natural history section.
The military displays in another section of the museum are also very well done.
